Where it all began

The restaurant is situated in the idyllic village location of Leek just on the edge of the Peak District. Qarma itself is situated within an old textile mill maintaining some of the original features as well as incorporating a South Asian influence to create a contemporary feel to give a unique ambience.

Qarma first opened it’s doors on March 15th 2009 taking over from an existing Indian / Thai fusion restaurant and has grown from strength to strength quadrupling the sales of the business within 6 months.

With the marketing / business and food innovation of the Proprietor to the vast experience and sophisticated palate of the consultant chef this partnership was formed to create success – come and try the best food in Staffordshire!

"Food is our Passion; Service is our Obsession" - to achieve this we have created an eclectic menu that uses traditional cooking at it’s crux to bring the flavours that South Asian people would enjoy at home rather than the pre-fabricated curries that are currently sold in most Asian restaurants. The palates of customers has developed so much where Indian cuisine is concerned that it makes sense that people will enjoy what we serve at home.

Here at Qarma we want people to feel special, and the way to achieve this is to treat them as you would treat your own family. Converse, serve and entertain – key ingredients to the whole dining out experience.

For your personal comfort we also have a take away delivery service for a minimal charge -however if you come and collect feel free to have a tea or coffee on us!! That is service!!

Meet the Team at Qarma

Proprietor: Mohammed Ahmed

Mohammed Ahmed is a Strategic Analyst by trade working with big clue chip companies such as Gillette and HBOS plc. Being involved in the trade from the age of 11, a fantastic love affair had developed that has resulted in the creation of Qarma. Mohammed’s aim is to create the best dining experience for customers – from the moment they walk in to the last step out of the restaurant.

Chef: Abdul Malik

He has now been cooking for over 15 years and his varied experience in several restaurants and the desire to further improve himself makes him a fantastic protégé of the consultant chef Mashuk Miah. He brings with him his own ideas and strategies and complements the team very well.

Arriving in the country in 1964 he was initially required to work as a “coffee waiter”. But after seeing the state of the toilets and the behaviour of some customers on his first day he decided that his temperament would be better suited for the kitchen. Since that day on the skills of this chef have developed combined with his natural flair for innovation resulted in having opened more than 13 restaurants.

With over 40 years experience he has helped develop the menu to ensure traditional cooking styles and tastes are incorporated with the new dishes being served to create the ultimate tastes in dining. He has a flair for innovation and with the help of Mohammed has created a menu that is distinguished, unique and most of all tastes absolutely fantastic.
